Set your team's roles

The owner changes roles

As an admin you can invite and remove staff from Settings › Team, but you can't change roles. If someone needs a different role, ask the owner.

See: Invite your team
The owner decides your role

If you need to do something your role doesn't allow, ask the owner to change your role. Your role shows in Settings › Account information.

See: Your web dashboard, read-only

Lola has three roles: Owner, Admin and Staff. Each one sees and does different things in your business. Only the owner changes roles, and your business is never left without an owner.

When you're done, you'll be able to
  • Know what an owner, an admin and a staff member can do
  • Change the role of someone on your team
  • Hand the business over to another owner without locking yourself out by mistake
  • Remove someone's access

Get to know the three roles

  • Owner: does everything, including what only the owner decides: the plan and billing, and team roles.
  • Admin: sees and edits everything in your business and all its locations. Doesn’t handle the plan or billing, can’t change roles, and only invites or removes staff.
  • Staff: scans in the Lola Business app to give stamps and redeem rewards. On the web dashboard they can see everything but not edit, except Reservations, where they can edit too.

Everyone sees their own role in Settings › Account information, under Role.

Change someone's role

In Settings › Team, click the three-dot menu (Actions) next to the person and choose Make owner, Make admin or Make staff. The change is immediate: you’ll see Done with their name and new role.

Your own row, marked You, has no menu: nobody can change their own role.

Premium plan

Changing roles is part of Premium. On the Free plan you can see your team, but without the actions menu.

Hand the business over to another owner

Your business always needs at least one owner. Nobody can change their own role or remove their own access from Team, and if a change would leave the business without an owner, Lola refuses it.

To hand the business over to someone else:

  1. If they’re not on your team yet, invite them as Owner. If they are, choose Make owner in their menu.
  2. Once they’re an owner, ask them to change your role or remove your access from their own Team.

Remove someone's access

In the person’s menu, choose Remove access and confirm. They can no longer access your business on Lola; the stamps and redemptions they recorded stay in the history.

As the owner you can remove anyone, even another owner, as long as at least one owner remains. An admin can only remove staff.

Before you go on

There’s no undo button. If the person comes back, invite them again and they get their place on the team back.
